The Terachrome Vision

We create much of the modern human experience with light. Display screens and light fixtures fill our vision with information and illumination. And we’ve just begun. Solid-state light sources are erasing the limits of prior technology. But raw technical capability is not enough. Aesthetics are key.

Artificial light is everywhere. You’re probably sitting within 20 feet of a dozen sources. But for all its omnipresence, the light we generate is far from ideal. Computer displays look realistic until you try to match product colors in a web store. HD television is impressive but doesn’t compare to a painting—let alone a window. Our beautiful incandescent lamps are inefficient, our economical fluorescent lamps are unattractive, and LED lighting too often flickers with an unsatisfying garish light. We’ve accomplished much with light, but we have not mastered it. We can do better.

Terachrome optimizes the aesthetics of light. This new approach to color science, enabled by recent advances in solid-state lighting and computer technology, extends designer control beyond just color and brightness to the entire spectrum of emitted light. Terachrome mixes light smoothly and optimally from numerous sources according to simple parameters. Displays achieve heightened realism. Illumination becomes smooth, full, and satisfying. Terachrome provides infinite versatility under simple, intuitive control.
